Hiking in The Gorge

Now that it is getting colder and winter seems to be right around the corner, there is still lots of great hiking weather ahead.  An easy hike would be to Hole-In-The-Wall waterfall.  At one time, this was Warren Falls.  But after flooding the original Columbia River highway, Warren Creek was diverted.  In 1938, a hole was blasted through the cliff, and Hole-In-The-Wall waterfall was created.

To get to Hole-In-The-Wall, take exit 54 on Highway 84 heading East, to Starvation Creek. There is no access from the Westbound lanes.  The trailhead is on West side of parking lot.  The trail then follows along Highway 84.  The waterfall is about 3/4 of a mile.

Not in the Gorge, but just up Highway 35 is Tamawanas Falls.  Beautiful hike up Tamawanas Creek, would be amazing with the Fall colors.  Not an easy hike, but so worth the trip.  Once you arrive to the falls you can climb up under the falls.  This is a 4 mile round trip hike....2 miles up and then back.

After a day of hiking, you can stop by Sixth Street Bistro for cheeseburgers....YUM.
